Preheat oven to 350 degrees, spray oil or grease casserole pan
In a medium sized bowl, make the custard by whisking together the eggs, milk, vanilla, sugar, cinnamon/nutmeg, cocoa, and salt until well combined.
Place chopped bread in the custard bowl - Let sit for 10 minutes to absorb all the of the goo.
Pour mixture into your greased pan and then sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly. pour (cooled) melted butter over the top.
Cover baking dish with foil and bake covered for 30 minutes. Remove foil and conintue to bake for another 15 minutes until the custard is set.
Sourdough bread pudding is best served warm. If desired, serve with some of the above suggestions.
